Iran official holds strategic dialogue with Iraqi officials
TEHRAN - An Iranian official has traveled to neighboring Iraq to hold a strategic dialogue with Iraqi officials.
The official, who is General Ahmadi Moqaddam, the head of Iran's National Defense University, held discussions with several Iraqi officials, including the National Security Advisor, the representative of Iraqi military educational institutions, and the commander of the Iraqi Federal Police.
During his meeting with Iraqi National Security Advisor Qasim al-Araji, General Ahmadi Moqaddam explored avenues for collaborative research and joint studies in the realm of futurology and strategic ecology.
Ahmadi Moqaddam's visit also included a meeting with the head of the Iraqi Federal Police, Lieutenant General Aqeel Mustafa Mahdi Al Rammah. The meeting centered on strengthening the existing cooperation agreement signed between the two countries in the educational domain. Both parties expressed keenness to expand their collaboration across all educational disciplines.
Ahmadi Moqaddam also paid a visit to the Iraqi Defense University, where he held a joint meeting with Iraqi officials, including the representative of Iraqi military educational institutions. The discussion revolved around the implementation of the signed cooperation agreement and reaffirming the commitment to fostering stronger educational ties.
During his visit to the Iraqi Federal Police headquarters, Ahmadi Moqaddam gained an in-depth understanding of the duties, capabilities, and achievements of the Iraqi police force. He particularly recognized the pivotal role of the police in combating ISIS and restoring stability to Iraq.
In a subsequent joint meeting with Major General Saleh Nasr Al-Ameri, the commander of the Iraqi Federal Police, Ahmadi Moqaddam, and his accompanying delegation delved into specific areas of collaboration between the two forces.
The delegation concluded their visit by paying homage to the martyrs of the Iraqi police force at the Iraqi Police Museum. This gesture underscored the profound respect held by Iran for the sacrifices made by Iraqi security personnel in safeguarding their nation.
Ahmadi Moqaddam also met with Iraqi Interior Minister Abdul Amir Al-Shimmari on Sunday to discuss bilateral cooperation in training and strategic research.
Ahmadi Moqaddam, leading a high-ranking delegation, traveled to Iraq upon Al-Shimmari's official invitation. The two officials agreed on a practical framework for cooperation in defense areas of cooperation.
During the meeting, Ahmadi Moqaddam also reached agreements with Iraqi high-ranking officials on further collaboration in these fields.
As part of their trip to Iraq, the Iranian delegation is expected to visit different parts of the Iraqi Ministry of Interior.
In October, Esmail Ahmadi Moqaddam visited Oman to meet with Major General Hamid Ahmed Said Sakroun, who oversees Oman's Strategic and Defense Studies Academy.
Following that visit, Ahmed Salim Mohamed Baomar led an Omani delegation to Iran, and they arrived on December 17.
